Why we started Luky & Co

It started with Rocco

Seb's first dog was seven months old when he bought him from someone who had treated him badly. Rocco was skinny and underfed, with poor skin and fur. Seb set about feeding him the best he could find: raw beef heart, liver and eggs from local farms around Bath. You'll find them in the recipes we're developing today.

The abuse had left Rocco with aggression that about six months of care and training couldn't change. No new home could be found, and he was put to sleep. He's a big part of why this company exists.

Then came Luky

In September 2026, Seb and his girlfriend found a two-month-old puppy in the jungle in Chiang Mai. They kept her and called her Luky, spelt without the c. She was lucky to find them, and they were lucky to find her. That's where our name comes from.

What we're making

A lot of dog food is sold with pictures of fresh meat on the front. Turn it over and the ingredients often say "meat and animal derivatives", meat meal, or fillers that lift the protein figure.

We want food made from meat we'd happily buy for ourselves, from farms we can name, in a box with no plastic in it.

We couldn't find all of that from one company in the UK, so we're making it.

It will take longer than buying in a recipe and putting a label on it. Good farms have limited supply, a vet nutritionist has to sign off every recipe, and plastic-free packaging for frozen food is still being worked out. We'd rather launch late than launch with something we don't believe in.
