Dog food subscription questions, answered
When the recipes have passed testing with our manufacturer and vet nutritionist. The founding list hears first and gets the first boxes. We won't take any payment before then.
Raw comes first, and we're also developing a version gently cooked at a low temperature. Both arrive frozen. The quiz asks which you'd prefer, and the answers help us decide how much of each to make.
We expect about £6.50 a day for a medium dog of around 18 kg, from about £3.80 a day for a small dog, with VAT and delivery included and a box every 28 days. That's more than most dog food, because we only buy named cuts from farms we can name and we're doing the packaging without plastic. The quiz shows an expected price for your dog, and the final price is confirmed before you pay anything.
We're planning to deliver across mainland UK. We'll confirm postcodes and delivery days before launch.
Raw meat can carry bacteria such as Salmonella and Listeria, for dogs and for the people handling it. If we sell raw food, every pack will carry handling instructions and we will explain safe thawing, storage and cleaning. If anyone at home is very young, elderly, pregnant or has a weakened immune system, the gently cooked version is the safer choice, and your vet can advise.
Growing dogs need calcium and phosphorus in tighter ranges than adults, so we're checking each recipe for puppies with our vet nutritionist. We'll tell you whether it suits your puppy before you order.
Each recipe page will list the farms or suppliers its meat comes from, with the county. If we can't name where something came from, we won't make the claim.
Plastic keeps food sealed, so it's the easy option. We're testing plant-fibre trays, paper packs and wool insulation with UK packaging makers. We'll publish what every layer of the box is made of and how to get rid of it, and we won't call anything compostable until it's certified.
Yes. When subscriptions open you will be able to change recipes, move a delivery, pause or cancel online, without phoning anyone.
We keep them with your email so we can tell you which recipe and portion suit your dog at launch, and to decide which recipes to make first. We don't sell them. The privacy policy has the details.
